Die Corvette C2 „Sting Ray“ war eine von Bill Mitchells besten Arbeiten. Überraschend war daher, dass diese Ausführung nur bis 1967 Bestand hatte. Bereits im Herbst 1967 erschien mit der Corvette C3 der Nachfolger. Gebaut wurde die Corvette C2 „Sting Ray“ vom September 1962 bis zum Juli 1967. Es wurden insgesamt 117.964 Stück hergestellt, darunter 17.762 Cabriolets allein im Jahre 1966. Das von uns ausgestellte Exemplar ist dank seiner Lackierung in „Goodwood Green“, den lediglich 4.293 gebauten Einheiten, des 4-Gang-Schaltgetriebes und der letzten Baureihe, ein waschechtes Schmuckstück mit Seltenheitsfaktor.

The Corvette C2 „Sting Ray“ was one of Bill Mitchell’s finest creations. It was therefore surprising that this version was only produced until 1967. Its successor, the Corvette C3, appeared in the fall of 1967. The Corvette C2 „Sting Ray“ was built from September 1962 to July 1967. A total of 117,964 units were produced, including 17,762 convertibles in 1966 alone. The example we have on display, thanks to its „Goodwood Green“ paint, the fact that only 4,293 units were built, its 4-speed manual transmission, and its status as the last production run, is a true gem and a rare find.
