Zwei Jahre dauerte der Bau des Ford Galaxy Skyline, von 1961 bis 1963, und wurde von “Mr. Custom” Joe Mureno höchstpersönlich durchgeführt. Die folgenden zwei Jahre nach Fertigstellung gewann der Wagen alle wichtigen amerikanischen Auto-Preise. Mureno ließ in den Bau des Moon Glow viele Stilelemente der Custom-Car-Gurus der 50er und 60er Jahre mit einfließen und die Top-Namen der Szene aus jener Zeit halfen beim Bau des Wagens mit. Ende 1965 wurde der Wagen an Willy Krouse in Hollywood verkauft und über Jahrzehnte ungenutzt in einer Garage eingelagert. Nach Krouses Einzug in den Vietnamkrieg im Jahr 1967 kehrte er nicht zurück. Im Oktober 1998 erwarb Joe Mureno das Fahrzeug. Nach 33 Jahren Standzeit wurde es freigelegt und im Dezember 1998 bei der Mooneyes Rat Fink Reunion von renommierten Fachleuten teils den ursprünglichen Erbauern restauriert.

The construction of the Ford Galaxy Skyline took two years, from 1961 to 1963, and was carried out by „Mr. Custom“ Joe Mureno himself. In the two years following its completion, the car won all the major American automotive awards. Mureno incorporated many stylistic elements from the custom car gurus of the 1950s and 60s into the Moon Glow’s design, and top names in the scene from that era helped with the car’s construction. At the end of 1965, the car was sold to Willy Krouse in Hollywood and stored unused in a garage for decades. After Krouse’s deployment to the Vietnam War in 1967, it never returned. In October 1998, Joe Mureno acquired the vehicle. After 33 years of storage, it was uncovered and, in December 1998, at the Mooneyes Rat Fink Reunion, partially restored by renowned experts, including some of the original builders.
