A Tri-Power Bonneville Convertible led the pace car at the Indianapolis 500 that same year. The Bonneville was an exclusive, Corvette-level model; only 3,096 convertibles were built in 1958. The 370-cubic-inch V8, in its Tri-Power version with Hydra-Matic transmission, produced 300 horsepower and proved faster and more reliable than the optional fuel injection system. Restorations of this model are considered complex and expensive.
